Project 2012

Ok, so to give myself something to do to keep the creative juices flowing (when I'm not at work) I decided to embark on a photography project which involves taking a single photograph everyday. So far I have had to cheat only a little bit as there was about a week in Febraury that I found extremely uninspiring. However, since the clouds have passed and the sun has come out, prompting spring to start springing, I have got back into the rhythm of it all.
The idea is that, as individual images the photographs will not really be that interesting, but as a collective they create a picture of my everyday as I have seen it. I have not altered the images in any way (contrast, brightness, resizing etc.) so it is a true representation of what I have seen.
Here are a few from the first 50 days of 2012.
I promise not to leave it so long next time!

A few photographs I took whilst on holiday on the Scilly Isles. Such a beautiful place; I must have been a terrible bore constantly stopping to take photographs! Oh well.

Mutabor Marchen Der Verwandlung

These images are taken from a small German fairytale book that I found in a charity shop. I picked it up purely for these pictures as they are beautifully done but quite macarbe. I just wish I could read the stories. I think my personal favourite is the fish man beacuse of its gorgeous illustration and shadowing. Also the flying bearded man; the wings are just stunning!

War of the Roses

I am often inspired to photograph places, people and objects, and the photography itself inspires me further. I was particularly interested in taking these images because of the endless layers that the flowers are made up of. I began to picture such structures being made of paper, of glass and of steel to, on one hand emphasise the delicate nature of the roses, and, in the last instance, to contradict their nature entirely. Of course, these are mere ideas, but it gives an example of how a simple photograph can be the beginning of a new concept or project.
